Missed a day

Question to the reader: Have you ever missed a day? Not miss as in "wow, that day was the greatest day on earth, I sure do miss it", but rather "wow, I was writing down all the things I did this past week, and I can't even recall being in existence on that day". Well, aside from one or two in college, I just recently had one myself.

Let's rewind to this past Saturday morning. I awoke early to prepare for the days festivities which included team breakfast with the Giant Mid-Atlantic crew, a group mountain bike ride with said previous crew, some lunching, then some gym work. On tap for the evening were birthday festivities at the Belgian Cafe. This was to be a spectacular day, and it was, save for 30 minutes into the ride where just after switching from my 29er to The Experience's Anthem X, I decided to fall at slow speed, giving my teammates something to giggle at. No harm, no foul, or so I thought. As is the norm with these crashes, things just start to pop up as more time goes on. In this case, these things were with me, not the bike. Upon finishing the ride, the conversation turned from our excitement about the team for this year to our immediate hunger and what to do about it. This problem was swiftly solved by our decision to hit the local burrito joint in downtown Manyunk ('twas a splendid decision). We ate, we cried, we laughed, we attempted to finish our burritos without having it spill out too much. It was a splendid time.

Upon saying our goodbyes, we all went on our separate ways, leaving the days bicycle festivities to our fond memories. Except that when I got home, the day's ride was becoming a nuisance I realized I had done a number on myself during my little tangle-up. I loosened up in the shower, and was still going to try and hit the gym for a little work-out, but the gym schedule changed and it closed at 5pm instead of 6 during January (on Saturday). No gym for me today, so I went to the basement and did a heavy core work-out instead, which was marvelous and made me feel accomplished on the day. After making some tasty food for dinner, I set out to the Belgian Cafe to toast the final days of a friend's 20's, which was a fun time. I made it home, and with a heavy heave, I tossed myself into bed. This is where the fuzziness occurs.....

I remember this to a small degree: Waking up on occasion, hobbling to the bathroom or kitchen, then hobbling back to bed to watch another movie. I thought I had done this for the good part of the morning, but it turns out it was the entire day. Whoops! I guess after having a fun-filled week of progress and accomplishment, I needed a day of rest, just didn't think it would be so static! I awoke this morning to some slight grogginess, and I can walk normally again. Maybe aliens abducted me, healed my leg, then taught me how to moonwalk? No dice there, I still can't moonwalk, selfish aliens..........

So I'm on to another week of progress and accomplishment. There's been a lot of news in regards to the new team, Giant Mid-Atlantic Cycling, so be sure to check out that blog as well! We have some awesome new sponsor announcements to make in addition to Elete and ESI, so stay tuned!

Good Stuff!

Wow! The new team is really coming together nicely! If you haven't checked it out already, than do it now: Giant Mid-Atlantic Cycling Team on the web, or check out the BLOG. Are you on Facebook? We're on there too, just search for Giant Mid-Atlantic, or click HERE.

The team just announced a new sponsor, ELETE electrolyte replacement. Super Stoked! This stuff rocks and is going to be key as the temps get warmer (which hopefully happens soon!)

There are a bunch more sponsors coming on board, so be sure to keep checking back for more announcements. It's going to be an awesome season!

On the riding front, I hit the Wiss today for the first time in a few weeks. It was good stuff! I'd be posting pictures right now if I actually took them. It was too cold to stop and snap a pic, plus I was having too much fun on the 29er. I promise to post a pic when it gets a tad warmer!

Bowl-a-rama

With a little booty shaking on the dancefloor at my friend's wedding on New Year's Day, I officially ended the holiday season. It's a good thing too, because I need a vacation from the holidays.

Currently I'm watching one of the gazillion college bowl games on. Or is it a bajillion? I know this is a recycled gripe, but what is the deal with these bowls? It's crazy that an 8-7 team can play in a televised bowl. Yes, it's good for the schools, but wasn't it more meaningful to appear in a bowl game, knowing that you are truly deserving of being there? That being said, I'll be watching as much of them as I can through tomorrow while I finish out my couch-surfing rest week.

On the movie front, I finally saw Paranormal Activity. Overall, I enjoyed the movie. It had a steady build-up to a truly scary ending. It was definitely easy to get wrapped up in the 'realism' of the film. I really want to see The Fourth Kind now.

2010 has begun, the year of the Giant.
